The Future of the Public's Health in the 21st Century,
Institute of Medicine 2002
Public Health is as complex, as important, and as challenging now as it ever has been. The next decade promises to bring dramatic change to the field and to bring greater opportunities for creative leadership. The Public Health Leadership Institute convenes new leaders and new public health partners who together will confront the new challenges in public health. The goal: support the public health leaders who will help lead the change in the public health system for years to come.
The new PHLI is based at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health under the direction of Dr. Ed Baker at the North Carolina Institute for Public Health, in partnership with Carol Woltring at the Center for Health Leadership and Practice, a center of the Public Health Institute in Oakland CA, and Dr. David Altman at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro NC.
